Derek Ellis is a motivated and inspiring Cinematographer and Editor.  He has a passion for creating a meaningful story and his projects are known for their aesthetic beauty.  Derek graduated from Northern Arizona University where he graduated Summa cum laude from the School of Communication.  During his time at NAU, Derek was nominated for five student Emmy’s in the categories of Short fiction, General Story, Cinematography, and Editing.  Winning two in the categories of General Story and Short fiction.  He has also had two different short fiction films in both the Sedona International film festival and the Phoenix Film Festival.  Currently Derek splits his time between Phoenix and Los Angeles.  His work focuses on philanthropic endeavors, short form documentaries, in addition to commercial work.
